Review: Chit Chat For Facebook A Web Messenger Facebook Application

Earlier this month I posted an article about Facebook’s beta version of their IM or Instant Messaging for Microsoft Windows operating system. After that I haven’t seen any further updates from Facebook on how this application is progressing until I tried this third-party application called Chit Chat for Facebook. Chit Chat for Facebook is an enhanced Facebook chat web messenger application where you can actually download on your desktop computer and chat with your online friends without you having to stay online the whole day especially when you’re at work.  On the lighter side, if you don’t know there are some companies whom are using Facebook as a venue to communicate either with their customers or partners.  Indeed, social media is considered as one of the most powerful tool now to communicate.

You don’t have to be a tech savvy to use this web messenger Facebook application.  All you have to do is download the application from their official website into your local drive and install it.  The installation guide is user friendly as well, you can actually click Next from the start until you’re done with the installation.  And once it is fully installed on your computer then you can now use it by just signing-in with your Facebook username and your password. If somehow you encountered any errors or problems when you try to login, Chit Chat for Facebook will open a dialog box providing you the most suitable solution for your problem.  But the most common for new users is during the signing part.  To resolve this, open your default browser and go to Facebook official page and login there first.  Once you’re in your news feed page, check your Facebook Chat is enabled from your browser – if not then enable it first before you go back to Chit Chat for Facebook and try to login again.

Now the fun part begins, how to use Chit Chat for Facebook?  Well, if you are familiar with other instant messenger application like Yahoo Messenger, Skype, and MSN, Chit Chat For Facebook works the same way as the application I’ve mentioned. You will see who’s online and who’s not.  Then if you want to send a message to a friend then all you have to do is double-click their name from the Chit Chat UI and start chatting.  You also have the option to save your conversation as a HTML file, clear your chat history and you can also check your chat log if you want to review something.

My overall verdict, Chit Chat for Facebook is worth to try especially if you don’t want to be caught by your boss wasting your time on Facebook. icon smile Review: Chit Chat For Facebook A Web Messenger Facebook Application  Also, if you are an entrepreneur who relies on Facebook as your medium or venue to communicate with all of your contacts – then this application is recommendable.

UPDATE

The Chit Chat for Facebook for Facebook has been updated to version 1.5, a new version with total revamped user-interface (UI) interface.

So why do we bother of using another Facebook chat application when the social networking Facebook already have their own application.   These were the answers we got:

  • Our Messenger application offers benefits that the official Facebook product doesn’t provide – for example the status update aggregation, proxy compatibility, short cut keys.
  • Competition enhances innovation – many cool things that we’ve introduced in the past have found their way into Facebook’s official client. By promoting us, you actually will help in the development of the whole area of Facebook chatting.
