Samsung Sold More Than 20 Million Galaxy S3 Units in 100 Days

Last year the Samsung Galaxy S2 was recognized as the best phone on the market, selling millions of units worldwide. Then Samsung released the Galaxy S3, and some geeks doubted that it could be a worthy successor to the world’s most popular phone – some said it was too big and too expensive.

Now we can see that Samsung has created a really good flagship after all – in the first 100 days they managed to sell more than 20 million Galaxy S3 units! That’s a really big number, and it’s three times more than in case of the Galaxy S2 and six times more than the Galaxy S sales. Unfortunately, we don’t have exact info about Apple’s iPhone 4S sales in the same timeframe; we only have Gartner’s latest report saying that Apple has sold 28.94 million iPhones in Q2 2012, but that includes the older versions of the iPhone, too. If we counted the sales of all Galaxy phones, the number would be much bigger than 20 million. So we can say Samsung has beaten even Apple in terms of sales.

However, on the other hand, the old iPhone 4S isn’t a serious rival against the recently launched Galaxy S3, so we better wait and see if the things will change with the release of the Apple iPhone 5, which is expected to take place on September 12. If the new iPhone is really as cool as everyone thinks, Samsung will have serious reasons to start worrying and promoting its phones better.

Among those 20 million units, 6 million were sold in Europe (perhaps Samsung’s latest promotion in the UK has also played a role in selling more devices), 4.5 million in Asia, 4 million in North America and 2.5 million in Samsung’s homeland, Korea. According to Samsung, about 200,000 Galaxy S3 units are sold every day worldwide, which is, of course, a rather big number.

By the way, it’s interesting that the Galaxy S3 isn’t the only popular Samsung phone at the moment. No matter how strange it is, the Galaxy Note phablet is also sold rather well, especially on contract – more than 10 million units have already found their buyers, and its successor with upgraded features and a slightly bigger screen is on its way – it’ll surely become a best-seller, too.

I don’t think Samsung has lost anything. They’re more popular than Apple, that’s why Apple’s so angry :)))
