The number of premium, or elite, smartphones is constantly increasing. And it may sound strange, but such posh and expensive devices are produced not by the leaders in this sphere but by such companies as TAG Heuer, Lamborghini, Dior, Prada, etc. In this article I’d like to tell you about most luxurious models of mobile phones.
I’ll open my review with most hyped-up smartphones by TAG Heuer RACER. This Swiss company has already three models in its mobile portfolio – Meridiist, Link and Racer. Apart from expensive materials (anodized aluminum, titanic, carbon alloys and even gold) these smartphones have improved fall protection. Smartphone display is protected with Gorilla Glass. By the way, the screen itself is pretty good: 3.5” with 480×800 resolution, 16 mln colors. The smartphone uses 1GHz processor with 512 RAM. Apart from that, it is provided with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 5Mp camera and 1400 mAh battery.
The device runs under Android 2.3.5, it is updated but the update to 4.1 version is under question. The thing is that the replacement of a card is required to do that, and now the company decides whether users should pay for this or not. The price for this model starts with 2800€.
Another interesting luxurious smartphone is Lamborghini TL700. The design of a gadget looks like that of a car. The device runs under Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has Qualcomm processor. It has 3.7” display covered with sapphire glass. Other specs include 5Mp main and frontal VGA cameras, 4Gb of built-in memory, 1400 mAh battery. But the most interesting part of this gadget is the materials it is made of, because it is made of gold with insets from crocodile leather. Another interesting feature of the gadget is SOS button on the side panel which automatically calls the emergency if press on it. The price for the gadget is 2750$.
In addition to the smartphone the company recently has released a tablet Tonino Lamborghini L2800. Unlike the smartphone it runs under Android 4.0.3 ICS. This device has 9.7” screen that is placed under sapphire glass, dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor. Nevertheless, the price for the tablet is even lower than that for the smartphone – 2320$.
But not only manufacturers of watches and cars have their own devices. Christian Dior’s design house has its own collection of luxury devices. Dior Phone Touch runs under Android 2.3. The model has several variants of a body. The cheapest one – Sapphire Crystal – is made of 99 sapphire plates, then goes Gold – sapphire and 18 carat gold, then Diamond – 1539 brilliants and white gold, and the most expensive is Black Zelie. All models have the same specs: 3.2” screen, 5Mp camera, 900mAh battery. All models are assembled in France manually. The price for the devices varies from 4000$ to 12000$.
But not all premium smartphones are expensive and have modest specs. There’re some stylish and not very expensive. For example, joint project of LG and Italian fashion house Prada – LG Prada 3.0(P940). This device is not made of expensive materials but has good specs and business design. The device is provided with dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor, video accelerator PowerVR SGX540, 1Gb of RAM and 8Gb of built-in memory, 4.3” NOVA display (IPS-LCD). Another pleasant feature is the presence of NFC chip in addition to regular connection modules such as A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0. the price for the device is around 600$.
And finally, the most unusual luxury gadget in this review. Its manufacturer is famous watch brand UlysseNardin. Their model Chariman runs under modified Android 2.3 Gingerbread. One of he main advantages of this gadget is that you may charge it both in a traditional way with the help of a charger and with the help of a rotor kinetic generator which reminds self-winding mechanism of a watch.
There’re only 1846 devices released – this number symbolizes the year the company was established. The device is available in 5 variants which differ by materials it is made of. Among these materials are gold, brilliants and platinum. The price of the device is 50000$.
As you may see, most of the luxury gadgets don’t have best and latest technical specs. But that’s not really important for those who buy them – these devices are the elements of style that highlight the status of their owners.
