Early this week I posted and relayed the good news from iPhone Dev Team where they released the latest Redsn0w jailbreak for iPod Touch (3G/4G), iPad 1, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 with the help of @pod2g who is the brain behind the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 devices. Yesterday, he tweeted that he made a “step” for the A5 which simply means that this is the jailbreak version for iPhone 4S and iPad 2. These two are A5 powered Apple devices and many users around the globe are waiting for this. As far as I am aware of, iPhone 4S has never been jailbroken since it was released unlike iPad 2 which can be unlocked with iOS 4.3.3 with Comex’ JailbreakMe v3.0. But since Comex is now taking up internship with Apple and no other hackers have been developing the app which can unlock the said device – we’ve seen no further updates after. But now, all eyes are now focused on pod2g’s update and waiting for the day until he says that the jailbreak app is now ready for download.
Many iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users are waiting for the update from pod2g’s own blogsite but I think @pod2g decided to just tweet it since he’s still busy working on the jailbreak app.
A major requirement though, you’ll need to update first your iPhone 4S and/or iPad 2 to iOS 5.0.1 before you can use the untethered jailbreak when it’s released.
And just a couple of hours ago, @pod2g posted an update on his blog site entitled A5 FAQ. This short post shows the answers on some of the A5 jailbreak questions and the most controversial question of all is why does he have the untethered jailbreak while the other jailbreak dev teams like iPhone Dev Team doesn’t have. He said that her injected an exploit that is mainly dependent to an Apple Developer’s account which he can never unveil publicly.
Let us hope that the jailbreak he will be releasing is still untethered.
