Everyone, I knew in my circle conveniently flaunted a touch phone and I was the only one left out literally. I realized that touchscreen phones no longer belong to the “top of the brass” crowd and definitely doesn’t come under the category of premium smartphones.
However, budget was a constraint and thus the hunt for the touchscreen phone had to start at the grass root level, and looking for decent budget mobile phones in Mumbai studded stars to my heel. To be precise my budget was under Rs 10000, lower the merrier! The alpha research did yield some really potential gadgets, the ones which i had never considered before and thus it needs sharing. Here’s my star studded squad for touchscreen phones within Rs 10000.
Acer be Touch E110:
It’s price tag literally stunned me; at Rs 7000 you cannot find a better deal than this one. Packed with a 2.8inch resistive touch display with a 240*320p resolution. Hosted on Android 1.5, it clicks with a 3.2 megapixel camera.
Has wealth of features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM Radio receiver and mini USB as good as any other top of the line smartphone today. Standalone talk time is that of 5 hours with a battery backup as long as 16 days! Need any more?
Samsung Galaxy Pocket S5300:
Rocket in your pocket! Just ask for it, this phone has it all. Slim, chic by looks this starlet from Samsung is powered with a 832 MHz processor and tracks on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Brings in a 2.8inch, QVGA capacitive display.
It also has 3GB built-in memory, with micro SD card slot chip-in. It clicks with a 2MP Camera, got 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi. Its price is stunning Rs 6990!
Samsung Galaxy 5 I5503 :
Samsung, has been all guns and galore with its Android smartphone lineup. This pocket bomb is decently priced at Rs 8869 (flipkart.com). Punched with an effective 600MHz processor and 256MB RAM , Galaxy 5 is built on Android 2.1 with an embedded memory of 90MB, and expandable upto a mammoth 16GB!
It offers a healthy talk time of about 7 hours and a standby battery life of 20 Days. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, mini USB are all chipped in, the only “thumbs down” for me was the camera, 2 MP only! Nevertheless, is an all-rounder considering the brand is Samsung!
“Made for the explorer in you”. I have never seen a phone as tiny as this one makes the game of MaxPayne feel so exciting. By the looks and build quality it is a long runner specially designed for the Indian conditions.
It is a true value for money in every sort, powered with HTC’s Sense User Interface. Other features include a 3.2 inch, HVGA Resolution display, 512 MB RAM, 600MHz processor, customary Android 2.3, 3 Megapixel camera, 3G and Wi-Fi. At a price of Rs 8999, this phone is to die for.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini:
I was hesitant to put this in the list, as the price would slightly go above Rs 10000 including the Tax et-all! But this is lucrative to say the least, definitely the best looking super impact phone available today.
Power packed with a 5 MP camera, 512 MB RAM and a 1GHz Snapdragon Processor. Xperia Mini is a complete package.
