Someone I knew around our neighborhood went to our house this morning asking me if I could help him with his Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro problem – he says that his new phone often freezes and he always needs to reboot or reset his phone just to set everything back to normal. This routine makes him so frustrated to the point that he wanted to sell his phone to me. I told him not to panic and offered him to try resetting his phone back into its factory settings. It is possible that because of his excitement having this new phone, he installed and dumped so much applications on his phone and now his phone’s choking to death.
He agreed to hard reset his mobile phone but I told him that by doing so will wipe out all the information from his phone along with all the new applications he previously installed – again, he was fine with that. A little note for my readers, yes, if you hard reset your phone it will erase, delete or wipe out all the information and applications (contacts, pictures, music, etc) from your cell phone and applies to all however all the data or files you installed on your microSD will not be affected at all. If you want you can back up first all your data files before doing this.
So here’s the procedure we did to reset his phone:
Factory Reset by Settings:
- From Main Home Screen
- Select SETTINGS, then PRIVACY
- Select FACTORY DATA RESET and then RESET PHONE
- Choose ERASE EVERYTHING
Sometimes or in most cases some end users can’t get into the main Home screen because the startup logo’s stuck making your phone to freeze , so here’s what you can do to hard reset your phone.
- Power off your device
- Simultaneously hold the left and right buttons (beneath your LCD display)
- Briefly press and release the Power button
- Follow the steps on-screen to hard reset your phone
Now if none of these works, it is possible that there’s a need to flash the phone’s original stock ROM or firmware. Or better yet, if your phone is still under warranty hand them over to your supplier – effortless.
